The Power of Legislative Advocacy
The budgeting process this year was unique and one that people not only followed but became personally involved with. Many of you may have written letters, sent emails, or called your legislatures to voice your support for one issue or another. These types of advocacy activities are vital to community services as they let elected officials know what people want. So let your voice be heard!
In an effort to continually improve communication with the community, our board, advocates, and all stakeholders, the Ashland County Mental Health & Recovery Board will add a Legislative Information section to its website. We will include information on current Bills that are before the Ohio Legislature, contact information for the involved parties, and any other information that we feel will be helpful to keep everyone fully informed on behavioral health issues. We look forward to facilitating better communications and factual information to enhance our effectiveness as we care for the Ashland County community.
Furthermore, the Board has elected Pam Mowry as the Legislative Liaison for the Board. Pam will keep Board members informed on the latest legislative news pertinent to Mental Health and alcohol and drug services and organize other activities and events.
