Seclusion and Restraint Advocacy Toolkit

This policy advocacy toolkit, Hope for Faith: The Need for Regulatory Reform Regarding the Use of Seclusion and Restraint in Children’s Residential Facilities in Ohio, provides a summary of the issue of seculusion and restraint, recommendations for how it should be addressed and a myriad of resources and reports that are related to this issue. The use of seclusion and restraint is detrimental to mental health care and is inconsistent to the Mental Health and Recovery Board’s philosophy as described in the Three Legs of the Stool. It is hoped that the use of seclusion and restraint will receive the attention it deserves from state leaders who are in a position to enact the reforms that are needed.
