Caring for the Next Generation of Ashland County

Strong communities start with families and schools that invest in the emotional, social, and intellectual growth of their students. By working together, a group of caring adults can change the direction of a child’s life. 

Ashland County School Liaison Program

The Ashland County Community School Liaison Program works in partnership with the Mental Health and Recovery Board of Ashland County, Appleseed Community Mental Health Center, and all the local school districts in Ashland County to proactively meet students’ needs.

Program Goals

  • Increase student attendance
  • Respond to daily crisis in the schools 
  • Enhance student coping skills
  • Engage families and increase partnerships and communication between parents and schools
  • Provide easier access to community resources

What Liaisons Do

Liaisons are present at the schools on a daily basis providing:

  • Brief assessments to identify student and family needs
  • Linkage to school and community resources
  • Collaboration and consultation with school staff
  • Crisis intervention and debriefing
  • Interventions to teach healthy life skill development
  • Family outreach, education and home visits
